Dark glaciers, basalt column caves, black sand beaches and moonlit lagoons fill the effervescent landscapes in Chinese artist Bibi Zhou’s latest music video. Conceived and directed by Canadian filmmaker Jodeb, Lunar is a visual metaphor for self-awareness, primal feminine power and emotional turbulence.

“The video is about inner struggle and desperate measures," says Jodeb, whose visuals transforms Zhou into an interdimensional puppet master that controls the lives of everyone around her. "I tried to make an epic painting in motion that creates a dualism between uncontrollable forces, such as the moon and gravity, and inner struggles that are universal to everyone.

After releasing twelve studio albums, winning Best Worldwide Act at the 2014 European MTV, and evolving her style to encompass pop, rock and electronic music, Zhou has developed a global fanbase that stretches from Mainland China to the US. "Bibi seems very badass and confident,” says Jodeb. “More than anything else, she does what feels right and has her own identity."
