Rapper, music producer and director Baloji returns to NOWNESS with the hard-hitting second outing from his new EP, 64 Bits and Malachite. The Congo-born Belgium-based beatmaker haunts a brewery in the Congolese capital, Kinshasa, with dancer and choreographer Jolie Ngemi, as he launches a fierce critique of the huge power wielded in African society by telecoms companies (Unit – of a mobile phone top-up) and breweries (Litre), whose consumer products have become the two cheapest on the continent.
