Fairytales can be as disturbing as they are enlightening. That magical atmosphere is something that fills the work of LA artist Marnie Weber. In her latest show The Sea of Silence at Simon Lee in London, film, sculpture and collages form dreamlike uncanny narratives. “I love the fact that fairytales are deep in our collective unconscious and are universal in expressing childhood emotions and transformations in character while being wrought with danger, death, and lessons to be learned.” In Weber’s world reality and fantasy blur, spirituality and philosophy mix.
