Star of Titane – winner of the the 2021 Cannes Film Festival’s prestigious Palme d’Or – Agathe Rousselle features in a new music video directed by filmmaker David Findlay for pro-skater-turned-musician Austyn Gillette. Enlisting the Lay Me by the Shore director to capture his own comprehension of the track, the video explores the daily lives of a young family and the sibling dynamics that run in parallel, meditating on the softness and fragility of human relationships and the weight of memories we carry with us.
Talking about the project, Findlay explains, “Upon listening to the track I was flooded with images of fragments of life taking place in an industrial setting. I can't really explain it, but that was the start. We hopped on a few long phone calls and discussed where the song came from for him, as well as how I felt listening to it. Austyn had an openness about him and I could tell our sensibilities were quite congruent. I wanted to depict a shared surreal moment out of time between these two that allows glimpses into their past, present potential future, and even fantasy, hinting at loss but also highlighting these fleeting moments of grace that come to define who we are and our relationships.”
