NOWNESS broke bread with Barcelona- and Milan-based interiors magazine Apartamento at this year’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, dropping in for the latest installment of the publication's ongoing dinner series “Tasca: Everyday Life Recipes.” Having previously staged the culinary happening at Tokyo Design Week and New York's ICFF, the title co-hosted four nights of intimate dinners with English designer Jasper Morrison during the influential furniture fair. Guests dined alfresco on pan con tomate and spaghetti alla chitarra al pesto at the candle-lit trestle tables, enjoying family recipes courtesy of editor-in-chief Marco Velardi, presented on Morrison’s PlateBowlCup bone china tableware for Alessi. “A big exhibition isn’t us. We’d much rather have fun and make sure everyone is a little drunk,” magazine director Nacho Alegre said. “I organized the crockery and cutlery, invited a few friends, chose the wine with Marco and turned up,” added Morrison, who also launched designs for Vitra, Cappellini and new brand Punkt throughout the week. The food-meets-design affair was in good company: Tom Dixon’s Salone installation reimagined his London eatery The Dock Kitchen as the pop-up Parlement Restaurant to launch his café-styled product range. Morrison’s friendship with the Apartamento team began, fittingly, at a dinner party a year ago.
