The son of iconic folk artist Leonard, Adam Cohen's lullaby lyrics are intentionally ordinary. Made up of a list of rom-com clichés – and referencing everything from Romeo and Juliet to Buddha – “Love Is” acts as a universal ode to all couples. “I was attracted to the idea of speaking about love using a very large, all-inclusive palette,” Cohen explains. “Love being a church that doesn’t hate, a law that doesn’t discriminate.”

Inspired by the work of French director Claude Lelouch and feted photojournalist Henri Cartier-Bresson, Jerry Pigeon's film follows model Juliette Cerisier around Paris’s 18th arrondissement as she plays knowingly to the camera. “Only at the end does the viewer discover who exactly has been filming,” adds Cohen of the final scenes where Cerisier nuzzles her real-life girlfriend. “It’s a day in the life of two ordinary lovers.”
