Taking cues from a darkly-hued Hollywood noir aesthetic, the multifaceted allure of ‘the actress’ is captured in this series taken by British photographer Daniel Jackson. An excerpt from the 15th edition of Acne Paper, the foolscap-sized cultural bi-annual conceived by the eponymous Swedish label out this weekend, the shoot was styled by the title's Fashion Director Mattias Karlsson. Calling upon an international cast of starlets including child prodigy Onata Aprile, 1960s stage actress Dina Paisner and cult blogger Karley Sciortino, Karlsson dressed them in designers including Stella McCartney, Yohji Yamamoto and Prada. “We decided to be spontaneous and playful, to create a character then and there,” he explains of the cinematic moments the pair staged with 13 lesser-known screen starlets. “The cross-section of women represent our interest in merging different generations,” says Editor-in-Chief Thomas Persson of Jennifer Venditti’s dynamic casting. “It created the right kind of rhythm being so fresh and modern and colorful. We wanted to feature fascinating people, who might not necessarily be super global mega stars.”
