Meet Zahra, she works in the Kebele area of Ethiopia to stop female genital mutilation (FGM), child marriage and rape.

As a survivor of FGM, Zahra shares her story with UNFPA—an international development agency that promotes the right of every woman, man and child—who have just launched a new initiative celebrating three survivors of FGM with the aim to put an end to the damaging, traditional practice.

International filmmaker Sara Elgamal shot A Piece Of Me in the Afar region of Ethiopia as a trilogy, telling the stories of three women. This stunning campaign evokes the strength of the women and erodes any notion of victimhood that might be associated with their experiences. Elgamal's high-fashion approach to capturing the spirit of Zahra, Abida and Khadija is an eye-catching, memorable and innovative take on a topic of this sensitivity and importance.
